From Cargo trailer to custom camper & Youtube Channel
So what exactly do you do when you are a retired senior? How about convert your trailer and go from cargo trailer to custom camper and Youtube channel? That’s exactly what we did. But, believe it or not, many senior citizens, besides us have done just that!
Being a contractor already, Rick had building experience so the project on took him a few weeks to convert his trailer into a camper. It was a low budget build, and we passed on many bells and whistles.
Total cost included trailer purchase about $7,000.
We were only going to be weekend warriors so we just wanted the basics. Total cost of the build was less than $3,000. Rick paid about $4,000 for the trailer about 8 years ago.
Now we Hit the road
Then we hit the road every month and travelled up and down the East coast. We are hoping to perhaps head out West next summer.

So while Rick took care of the construction on the camper, I decided to document some of the build on Youtube, so I created a Youtube channel. Learning Youtube was indeed a learning curve, but we were able to get monetized and joined the Youtube Partner Program in 5 months. Since I started the channel with videos filmed, edited and uploaded weekly, I made $127.00 in Adsense revenue. So much for a rich and famous Youtuber – LOL!
We traveled to over 5,000 miles to Florida, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York. We also camped many state parks in NJ since we live in NJ. We’ve spent over 40 days living in our 70 square foot camper. And much of this has been documented for our Youtube Page.
So now that I have this website, I have a place to blog about our travel and our adventures. We made some videos about the construction process on our Youtube channel.
